Trip Details

Attend our unique 7 day/6 night volleyball trip to the small seaside town of Boca Chica Dominican Republic. You will be put on a team with other American players. Teams are coached by NCAA Division 1 college coaches alongside Dominican coaches. Camp is open to any and all applicants within the age category. Players immerse themselves in volleyball and the local Dominican culture. Participants practice and play volleyball against Dominicans. In addition to volleyball, time is set aside to enjoy the beautiful Caribbean beach located with walking distance where players may swim in the turquoise water or relax on the beach.

A day trip may consist of visiting Santo Domingo to tour the historic Colonial Zone, visiting an orphanage or taking a catamaran to visit a government protected nature reserve.
Volleyball is used to bridge a cultural gap. Teens will gain valuable skills and confidence by visiting an environment very different than they are used to. Players are exposed to the spirited style of the Dominican players and have an opportunity to spend the week with a professional coach both on and off the court where they will hear tips and insight into the college recruiting process.

FAQs

Do I need a passport and how do I get one?

This is one of the most important items that must be considered ahead of time. Yes, you must have a passport. It can take up to two months to get your passport application processed. For more information on getting a passport the Department of State.

Is it safe in the Dominican Republic?

Yes. The Dominican Republic has recently become a popular tourist destination for Americans. Dominicans are welcoming people and especially so with volleyball players. We will stay together as a group and players will have a buddy system.

What if someone gets hurt or sick?

We don’t anticipate any injuries; however in the unlikely event of an accident during a game, we will have a staff member present with Red Cross first aid certification during all volleyball games. We have an emergency plan with a state of the art Health Care provider Hospiten . We have a nurse on staff at our hotel.

What kind of supervision will my daughter have?

We maintain a 5 to 1 player to staff ratio. During times that we are not participating in volleyball activities, players will be in groups of four with a coach.

What is the hotel like?

There are several facilities we use. Our primary facility is a 3-star all-inclusive resort on the beach. We sleep two players per room. It is within close walking distance of the the volleyball Court.

What is the food like?

We eat a combination of Dominican and American food that includes an assortment of beef, chicken, rice and pasta. Tropical fruit (mango, papaya, pineapple, coconut) is in abundance.

How many matches will be played?

We will play one match every day.

What other activities will we be doing besides playing Volleyball?

We will go to the beach, take a trip to the Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo, visit a Major League Volleyball Dominican Academy, learn Dominican Volleyball training techniques and assist in a local community service project such as painting a house or visiting an orphanage.

Can parents come and watch?
Family members who are interested in coming are welcome to do so. We can offer a family package; the cost depends on selected accommodations.
Do I need to speak Spanish?
No. Some Dominicans speak English, although many do not. This makes the trip more interesting and fun. We will have access to interpreters and at least one of our coaches is bilingual.
Do I need any immunizations?
